Matt Cooper

Director, Corporate Investigations

Matt has over twenty (20) years of investigative experience in the public sector which includes over 12 years of as a sworn law enforcement officer responsible for leading and managing high profile felony criminal investigations, as well as conducting major civil investigations. During his law enforcement tenure, Matt served as a Deputy Sheriff for twelve (12) years where he supervised and investigated hundreds of felony level criminal offenses including homicide, negligent death, theft and sexual assaults. Additionally, Matt spent seven (7) years conducting and supervising felony child abuse and sexual assault investigations, is a Certified Death Investigator and is certified at the National Child Advocacy Center.

In addition to his time as a sworn Deputy, Matt served eleven (11) years as an Investigator with the State of Missouri, including nearly five (5) years with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, four (4) years with the Board of Healing Arts, and over three (3) years with Missouri Medicaid Audit and Compliance. During his tenure as a state Investigator, Matt was responsible for the investigation of high-level fraud and white-collar offenses, including the investigation of health care professionals and offenses at hospitals, pharmacies and health care facilities. These investigations were both criminal and civil (regulatory,) and included drug diversion, hundreds of controlled substance audits, impaired physicians or practitioners, medical malpractice, theft, sexual assault and fraud. These investigations led to state and federal criminal charges/convictions as well as civil and regulatory penalties. Throughout his service as sworn law enforcement and as a regulatory investigator, Matt worked with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, state and local prosecutors’ offices, the United States Attorney’s office, and numerous state and federal regulatory agencies. As a result, he gained extensive testimony experience in both civil and criminal proceedings, including administrative hearings, depositions, grand juries and criminal trials.

Most recently Matt has served as an Investigator within the Corporate Investigations service area of LCG. During that time frame he has participated in a number of complex investigations for numerous large corporations involving complicated matters such as fraud, theft of services, and bribery. While with LCG, Matt has served as investigative consultant to his corporate contacts as well as internal and outside counsel, assisting them through investigative findings, investigative oversight/guidance and litigation strategy. Prior to his law enforcement/investigative career, Matt possessed a Top-Secret security clearance and served in the United States Air Force as a flight crew member.
