Kris Carlson

President

Kris is currently the president of LCG, LLC and has over 24 years of experience in civil and criminal investigations, digital forensics and high-tech computer and Internet investigations. He was a certified law enforcement officer for 15 years, during which he served in the capacities of computer forensic examiner, high-tech crimes investigator, Detective (multiple ranks) and high-ranking supervisory positions. Kris has received hundreds of hours of training in technical investigations including digital forensics, wireless and peer-to-peer networks, digital devices and evidence, online undercover operations and high-tech crimes unit supervisor training.

As Detective and Director of the County Special Victims Unit for 10 years and a member of the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) for 13 years, Kris worked closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, county and state level prosecutors and the United States Attorney’s Office. Kris also served as Commander of the VT-ICAC for over 6 years where he was responsible for full operational oversight of the statewide task force including digital forensics, investigations, training and public outreach.

Kris has been involved in over 1000 specialized, civil and felony level criminal investigations as an investigator, forensic examiner and/or supervisor, including many involving digital forensics/evidence. Kris has extensive testimony experience having provided sworn testimony and/or documentation in well over 100 criminal and civil matters combined in both State and Federal Courts in the form of affidavits, hearings, depositions, grand juries, trials and has also testified before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary in Washington DC.

Kris’s efforts have resulted in the drafting of hundreds of complex written reports, sworn affidavits, search warrants and subpoenas, and he has been recognized as an expert in high-tech criminal investigations for which he has provided a substantial number of national level presentations and trainings to law enforcement and prosecutors. Kris served as an adjunct professor in the subjects of Digital Forensics and Criminal Procedure at the college level and was a certified instructor for the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council, instructing law enforcement in criminal law and complex felony and/or technical criminal investigations for over a decade.
